Referral program

Introduce us to a business. Earn 10%.

Backbone Area's referral program: if you know a business that needs help with its IT or cybersecurity, introduce us and we take it from there. You earn 10% of the net profit on what it signs at the initial signing (for recurring services, on every monthly fee for 12 months).

A simple agreement, in writing.

Backbone Area's referral program is an agreement with professionals and firms (our partners) who introduce us to businesses that may need our services. If that business signs with us, the partner earns 10% of the net profit on what it signs at the initial signing. No exclusivity, no minimum term, and a one-page agreement.

Four steps. You just make the intro.

  1. Tell us firstEmail us the company's name, your contact there and how you know them.
  2. We confirm within 48 hWe tell you in writing whether the business is new to us. If it was already in our records, we show you the date of first contact.
  3. Make the introductionBy email with us in copy, or on a call. That's all it takes.
  4. We take it from thereAssessment, proposal and closing are on us. We let you know every time a payment earns you commission.

10% of net profit.

The same rate for every partner, with no tiers and no exceptions. Net profit is what we invoice the client (excluding VAT) minus the attributable costs, duly documented.

One-off project10%

Of the project's net profit. A single payment, once the client has paid us.

Recurring service10%

Of the net profit on each monthly fee for the first 12 months after the contract is signed (managed IT, SOC, support or any other service billed periodically). From month 13 on, no commission.

Scope

Only the initial signing counts.

Your commission covers what the business signs the first time it contracts with us after your introduction: the first project, the recurring service, or everything it signs that same day (each project and each service earns its own 10%).

Anything it signs later doesn't earn commission, even if you're involved: no upgrades, extra users or devices, renewals, or new projects and services, even if they come up in the months that follow. On a recurring service, the base is the fee for what was signed at the start: if the client adds to it, the base stays the same; if it scales back, the base goes down.

Paid when we're paid

If the client doesn't pay us, there's no commission.

Notice of every payment

Paid within 15 days

Send us your invoice and we pay by bank transfer within 15 calendar days of receiving payment (or of your invoice, if it arrives later).

VAT on top

The person who decides is usually the one living with the problem: the managing director, operations, finance or the owner. There's an opportunity when a business:

Has no in-house IT

Or has one or two people who can't keep up.

Has had an incident

A cyberattack or a close call, or it fears one and doesn't know who would handle it.

Is going through change

Growing, opening a new site, merging with another company or moving to the cloud.

Is stuck with old systems

That have become fragile or hard to maintain.

Has to comply with a standard

NIS2, ENS or ISO 27001, because the law, a client or its insurer requires it.

Wants to use AI

Without handing control of its data to third parties.

For people who talk to businesses every week.

You don't need to be technical or a salesperson. It works if your job puts you in front of businesses that need help with their technology.

Business consultants and coaches

You talk to executives and founders, and many of the problems they share turn out to be IT problems. Now you know where to send them.

Technical freelancers

Developers, designers or IT consultants: you get asked about networks, systems or security that aren't your thing. Instead of turning the work down, you introduce us.

Agencies and consultancies

Marketing, sales, strategy or transformation: IT always comes up. You can offer more without hiring technical staff or taking on the service yourself.

Content creators

You write or speak about management, productivity, AI or cybersecurity for people who run businesses. When someone asks you who to call, you introduce us.

Five rules, in plain terms.

  1. Paid when we're paidCommission comes from payment, not from a signature or a meeting. If we don't get paid, you don't; once we do, we pay you within 15 days.
  2. No exclusivity, no minimum termYou can work with anyone else, including our competitors, and either of us can end the agreement in writing at any time, with no penalty. Leads already confirmed keep their commission (until they close or, on recurring services, for the full 12 months).
  3. A one-page agreementIt covers the commission, these rules, confidentiality and data protection. We prepare it with your details and we both sign it.
  4. Every lead in writingEmail us about each business you introduce (name, contact and context) and we confirm in writing within 48 hours whether it's new or already in our records.
  5. Existing leads, backed by recordsIf the business was already in our sales records before your introduction (including an earlier introduction by another partner), it doesn't earn commission, and we show you the record and the date of first contact.

What people usually ask.

How much do I earn for introducing a business?

10% of the net profit on what it signs at the initial signing. On a one-off project, a single payment. On a recurring service, 10% of each monthly fee for the first 12 months. The rate is the same for every partner.

What does net profit mean?

What we invoice the client, excluding VAT, minus the duly documented costs attributable to that project or that month. With every payment we tell you the commission amount and how it was calculated.

What if the client buys more later?

That doesn't earn commission. Only what the client signs or accepts the first time after your introduction counts (one or more contracts or quotes, on that same day). Upgrades, extra users or devices, renewals and new projects or services are excluded, even if you're involved.

When and how do you pay me?

When the client pays us. We notify you in writing of each payment, you send us your invoice and we pay by bank transfer within 15 calendar days of receiving payment (or of receiving your invoice, if it arrives later).

Do I need to invoice?

Yes. Commission is paid against your invoice, with whatever taxes apply, since all amounts in the agreement exclude VAT. If you can't issue invoices, let's talk about it before signing.

What if the business was already your client?

Then it doesn't earn commission. We tell you in writing within 48 hours of your email and show you our record and the date of first contact.

Do I need to know about technology, or sell?

No. Your part is spotting the opportunity and making the introduction. Assessment, proposal, pricing and any commitments are ours: partners don't negotiate or make commitments on Backbone Area's behalf.

Is there exclusivity or a minimum term?

No. You can work with anyone, our competitors included, and leave the program whenever you like, in writing and with no penalty. Leads already confirmed keep their commission.

What else is in the agreement?

Mutual confidentiality during the agreement and for two years after; data protection under the GDPR and Spain's LOPDGDD, each party as an independent controller, with you making sure you can share each business's contact details; neither party poaches the other's staff during the agreement and for 12 months after; and public use of our name or logo needs our written permission.
